Cellist Nan-Cheng Chen has been praised by the Washington Post for his “personable and smile-inducing” performances and New York Concert Reviews for his “beautiful tone.” Deeply passionate about connecting with audiences, Nan-Cheng brings warmth, charisma, and artistry to every stage he plays.Nan-Cheng is a CME Artist with the Center for Musical Excellence, and in 2025, he was appointed Co-Principal Cellist of the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra by conductor Jaap van Zweden.​​

 

 

曾被《紐約音樂會評論》和《華盛頓郵報》譽為具有「優美的琴聲」和「讓聽眾愉悅的傑出演出」的旅美大提琴家陳南呈,經常受邀於南美、北美、歐洲及亞洲知名場地演出,包括紐約林肯中心及卡內基音樂廳等,有一年近百場演出的紀錄。2025年起,由指揮家范志登(Jaap van Zweden)任命為長榮交響樂團大提琴首席。

Biography

陳南呈 / 大提琴 曾被《紐約音樂會評論》和《華盛頓郵報》譽為具有「優美的琴聲」和「讓聽眾愉悅的傑 出演出」的旅美大提琴家陳南呈,經常受邀於南美、北美、歐洲及亞洲知名場地演出,包 括紐約林肯中心及卡內基音樂廳等,有一年近百場演出的紀錄。曾以獨奏家身份與委內瑞 拉Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra合作包伯(Samual Barber)大提琴協奏曲,近期(2024)則 與指揮水藍擔任台灣交響樂團(NTSO)開季音樂會嘉賓演出協奏曲。 陳南呈為2010年成立的新亞室內樂協會(NACMS)創辦人兼執行總監,獲得紐約音樂會 評論讚譽為《一流的音樂組織》,並於2022至2025間連續多年受邀至紐約大都會球場和麥 迪遜花園等之NBA和MLB球賽擔任開場演出嘉賓。NACMS之首張專輯《情繫心憶》於 2022年獲台灣傳藝金曲獎最佳編曲獎和最佳錄音獎兩項入圍。 12歲赴美,在美求學期間曾獲Queens Symphony 青少年獨奏家比賽、Quincy Symphony 協 奏曲比賽、波士頓室內樂協會音樂比賽、Metro-West Symphony 協奏曲比賽等的首獎殊 榮。於紐約茱莉亞音樂院(The Juilliard School)取得學士和碩士,並獲美國傑出人才永久居 留權,之後以全額獎學金進入紐約市立大學(CUNY Graduate Center)博士班就讀。曾師從 Eleonore Schoenfeld、Mark Churchill、Joel Krosnick和Marcy Rosen等大提琴家。現旅居紐約,曾任教於紐約市立大學皇后分校(Queens College),紐約Mahanaim音樂院, 紐約飛天大學教授大提琴和室內樂,並曾於美國賓州州立大學、Wisconsin 大學、台灣師 範大學之音樂系擔任大師班教學。自2019年起,每年暑假受邀於奧地利Altenburger Musik Akademie音樂節擔任大提琴師資。2025年起,由指揮家范志登(Jaap van Zweden)任命為長 榮交響樂團特約大提琴首席。

Cellist Nan-Cheng Chen has been praised by the Washington Post for his “personable and  smile-inducing” performances and New York Concert Reviews for his “beautiful tone.” Deeply  passionate about connecting with audiences, Nan-Cheng brings warmth, charisma, and artistry to  every stage he plays.  

An avid chamber musician, Nan-Cheng is the Executive Director and co-founder of the  New Asia Chamber Music Society (NACMS). He also serves as Principal Cellist of both the  Solisti Ensemble and Pegasus: The Orchestra, and has performed with award-winning groups  such as Sonic Escape and Neptune Trio.  

As a soloist, Nan-Cheng has appeared with renowned orchestras including the Simón  Bolívar Orchestra, Vienna International Orchestra, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra,  Queens Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, MetroWest Symphony, and  Symphony Pro Musica. Of a recent concerto performance, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette wrote:“It was the kind of performance one might hear live only once a decade.”  

Originally from Taiwan, Nan-Cheng holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The  Juilliard School and is currently pursuing a Doctorate at the CUNY Graduate Center. He has  served as Adjunct Assistant Professor at CUNY Queens College, Feitian College in Middletown,  and the Mahanaim Institute in Long Island.  

Nan-Cheng is a CME Artist with the Center for Musical Excellence, and in 2025, he was  appointed Co-Principal Cellist of the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra by conductor Jaap van  Zweden.
